Peter Thipommajan

Peter has been the project director of Sae Lao since 2019. He is 25 years old, and volunteered for the Sae Lao project during his college days.
He came back in 2019 to the site, before Covid-19 decided to block the whole world. So he stayed here for 2 years, waiting for things to get back to normal.
His mission was then to restart the project with the rest of the team, redoubling efforts to attract new volunteers and improve the site.
Today, the project is back on its feet, and Peter is the coordinator of the whole team. He is also the link between the association and the local authorities or the government.
And above all: he makes many volunteers come to help us and feel good here, and that is very precious!

Tui

Tui is the assistant coordiantor here at Sae Lao. He joined in October 2023, initially working in the restaurant before becoming a trainee coordinator.
Tui is responsible for everything volunteer related - welcoming them, resolving any issues, and generally making sure they are having a good time! Tui is loved by us all at Sae Lao for his work ethic, passion, and kind nature.

MaeMai

MaeMai is our wonderful chef of our restaurant. She prepares the lunch for the volunteers each day(!) and serves her guests delicious dishes and drinks!

Phanda

Phanda is Carrot and Leila's child. Together, they are the dream team in welcoming guests at the restaurant. They are also responsible for ensuring the chickens and ducks stay off the restaurant and that the cows stay out of the garden. Besides that, they love to cuddle with our volunteers!

OUR IMPACT

Sae Lao has the ability to transform lives through empowering people with key skills. Here are some of the stories that highlight the reasons Sae Lao exists

Joulee was granted entry onto the scholarship programme, where Sae Lao funds each aspect of his university life. "If I wasn't part of the scholarship, I would probably have to become a farmer. This, for me, would be like hell. Farming is a very hard job, so I'm very happy to be on the scholarship."

Joulee Sae Lao Community member

I am from a big family in the countryside of Laos. There are 14 people in my family. They are all farmers. In June 2018, I graduated from Vang Vieng Highschool with very satisfying results. Before starting University, I was an intern at Equal Education For All (EEFA). EEFA was a registered Lao, non-profit, non-governmental organisation that provides Lao students with free English classes and workshops about health and environmental awareness. I worked as an English teacher for students and as a coordinator for international volunteers. Doing this work made me realise my wanting to contribute to the development of my Country.
